Nolichucky River Rafting
The Nolichucky River
The Nolichucky is a magical place. Born on the slopes of Mount Mitchell, the Noli surges into the ridge of the Unaka Mountains and cuts across the Tennessee and North Carolina border. This free flowing Class III- IV river is as diverse as it is spectacular. Jagged rock faces tower over beds of laurel and rhododendron. After your rafting trip these cliffs will entice you to practice some rapelling and climbing with our experienced guides. It is not unusual to see a family of deer or a bear come down to the water for a drink during one of our fly fishing tours. The Lower Class I-III section of the river offers tubing and float trips for families with young children. In fact, some children love the Nolichucky so much they come to stay for a week or two during the summer at one of our premier outdoor adventure camps. It’s no wonder our customers return to the Noli year after year to lose themselves in this wonderland!
Lower Nolichucky Trip:
Relaxed family paddling on the unforgettable river. Enjoy the leisurely pace of the river as it winds its way in and out of the Cherokee National Forest.
Our Nolichucky base camp is bordered by majestic scenery on every side. The Nolichucky River itself flows in front, while the Appalachian Trail runs through the Cherokee National Forest in the rear of the facility. The lodging options include tents on platforms (thick foam mattresses included) to rent at the campground next door, or you can stay in the Crockett Cabin (limited availability), a traditional log cabin bunkhouse on the river.
